Spring Spartan Day of Service 2025: Volunteer Impact
April 23, 2025
On April 12th, the Center for Community Engaged Learning teamed up with the Alumni Office to host our Spring Spartan Day of Service. 255 student volunteers connected with our community partners at 10 sites in the Greater Lansing Area and 1 site in Detroit, collectively serving 1,530 hours on a variety of projects and creating an estimated financial impact of $48,322 in communities served.
“We are so thankful for the assistance of our volunteers today,” said Paden Clevenger, Volunteer & Projects Manager at Haven House. Day of Service volunteers at Haven House helped with donation sorting and groundskeeping. “Haven House depends on volunteers to get projects like these completed. Their hard work organizing donations will make our operations run more smoothly and will make grabbing items for clients and for shelter use easier for staff. Thanks to the volunteers, our front garden beds are also tidy and ready for Spring!”
Partners for this Day of Service also included Potter Park Zoo, the MSU Pollinator Gardens Allen Neighborhood Center, South Lansing Urban Gardens, the Equine Center for Learning, Fenner Nature Center, the Spartan Victory Lap 5K hosted by the Sophomore Class Council, and the MSU-Detroit Partnership for Food, Learning, and Innovation.
Thank you to our community partners for welcoming our students and to our student volunteers!
