The staff at the Center for Community Engaged Learning would like to congratulate Laurenza Riojas on her retirement after 37 and a half years at Michigan State University.

In 1984, Laurenza began her career at MSU in the Office of Student Life working in Judicial Affairs. During this time, Laurenza earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from MSU. 

After 15 years in Student Life, Laurenza moved to the Center for Service Learning and Civic Engagement, now the center for Community Engaged Learning (CCEL). After beginning as an Office Manager for the Center, Laurenza has been the Data Information Analyst and Transportation Coordinator for CCEL for the past several years and played a crucial role on the CCEL team maintaining databases, compiling information for annual reports including the Community Engaged Learning Index Report, and coordinating transportation for students involved in Academic Community Engaged Learning. 

Laurenza has taken great pleasure in supervising students over the years and has been instrumental in supporting community partner organizations for CCEL.

Fun fact: Laurenza has worked in the Student Services Building for her entire career at MSU, holding an office on every floor aside from the second!

After retirement, Laurenza plans to spend more time with her wife, Darcy, as well as their seven children and five grandchildren.
