Community partners are at the heart of community-engaged learning at Michigan State University. The Center for Community Engaged Learning (CCEL) collaborates with organizations to connect community needs with student learning, leadership development, service, and civic engagement opportunities. Whether you are interested in recruiting student volunteers, developing a community-engaged learning project, partnering with faculty, or addressing a community issue, we are here to help.
Become a CCEL Community Partner
The first step is to schedule a CCEL Partner Connect Session through our bookings page below
Partner Connect Sessions are personalized consultations designed to help you:
- Explore partnership opportunities with CCEL
- Learn about community-engaged learning at MSU
- Discuss volunteer recruitment and student engagement needs
- Learn how Spartans Volunteer can support your organization
- Connect with faculty, classes, or student groups
- Identify opportunities that align with your organization's mission and goals

Our Community-Engaged Learning Framework
As part of the partnership process, we will introduce you to the frameworks that guide our work:
- United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to help connect your organization's work to broader social impact goals.
- Social Change Strategies to identify the ways students and communities create meaningful change together.
- Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that outlines our shared commitment to a successful partnership.
Next Steps
Following your Partner Connect Session:
- Complete the Community Partner Registration Form in Spartans Volunteer.
- Identify up to three UN Sustainable Development Goals that align with your organization's mission.
- CCEL will review your registration information.
- An MOU will be sent to your organization's authorized signer for approval.
- Once the MOU has been completed and approved, your organization will be activated as a CCEL Community Partner and may begin sharing opportunities with MSU students through Spartans Volunteer.
Grow with Us! As our partnership grows, you are welcome to schedule additional Partner Connect Sessions for support with volunteer recruitment, community-engaged learning projects, faculty connections, opportunity postings, or other partnership needs.
