Academic Community-Engaged Learning
Academic Community-Engaged Learning: Academic community-engaged learning encompasses courses and curriculum with a community-engaged learning component tied to course or program objectives, designed as partnership efforts among faculty and community organizations.
America Reads/America Counts
Work-study-eligible tutoring positions with local public schools and youth-serving organizations.
Community Engagement Scholars Program
Program focusing on developing civic, professional, and personal skills while working with Detroit, Lansing, and Flint community and economic development organizations.
Days of Service
Exposure to community-identified needs that can be addressed in one day.
Pre-Professional
Areas of academic interest intended to enter professional schools after graduation (pre-med, pre-nursing, pre-law, pre-vet, etc.).
Volunteering
Opportunities to serve with various community partner organizations that are intended to promote goodness and/or improve human quality of life.
Alternative Breaks
A community-engaged learning experience that focuses on social issues, where participants commit to serving needs identified by the community. These experiences consist of 12 college students and occur during weekends and winter/spring breaks. This program strives to develop actively engaged Spartans through direct service, education, and reflection.
