America Reads/Counts Tutor

Role Overview

As an America Reads/Counts Tutor, you will work directly with K-12 students to help them improve their reading and math skills. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by providing support that helps students achieve academic success.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers in classrooms during the school day or professional staff in after school programs
  • Develop engaging lesson activities
  • Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring to students

This role is perfect for anyone passionate about education and enjoys working with children.

  • Experience in tutoring or working with youth is a plus but not required—training will be provided!

  2. Complete the Criminal Background Check Authorization Form  
  3. Complete: Intro to CCEL D2L Course (~30 minutes)
    1. Upload your certification to your Spartan Volunteer Portal 
  4. Register and attend the one of the following Spring 2026 Information sessions/orientations
