Social Work

Tazkira Amin (she/her) is a junior from the Metro Detroit area. At MSU, she is currently pursuing a major in Social Work with plans to become a social worker in the future. Tazkira fundamentally believes that a more equitable society starts with amplifying the hard work of individuals/groups who are at the frontlines fighting such inequalities. This passion influenced her involvement with organizations such as the Immigrant and Refugee Resource Collaborative, an organization that bridges the gap between resources and refugees/immigrants arriving in Lansing, and Civic Nation’s When We All Vote Initiative, a nationwide initiative advancing civic education and closing the race/age gap when it comes to voting. Through these experiences, she has found love for community-based efforts, and she is excited to see this love flourish through her role as a Community Engagement Scholar. Tazkira is serving with the City of Lansing Public Service Department this scholar year.
