Is your Registered Student Organization looking to volunteer or have a service project with no way to get there? Are you faculty or staff designing a community engaged learning experience for students and looking for transportation options? A 2024-25 Transportation Support Award can help fund your community engaged learning transportation needs. CCEL is expanding our efforts to remove barriers for students to participate in community engaged learning. This will ultimately increase support for our community partners through providing Transportation Support Awards (TSAs).

Who can apply:

The application is open to MSU faculty, staff, and Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) who require funding for students to travel to community engaged learning projects.

Award Specifics:

We will award transportation assistance to projects that uphold the standards of quality community engaged learning for students, including orientation to community and critical reflection.

Potential uses for funds may include but are not limited to:

  • Renting vehicles from Enterprise or another rental company
  • Bus rental
  • Uber/Lyft/etc.
  • Scooters
  • Transportation to locations outside of CATA bus routes
  • Rental from MSU Motor Pool (Faculty/staff only)

Funding is limited to events in Michigan.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. Applicants are encouraged to submit at least 30 days prior to needed funding.

CCEL reserves the right to make decisions on awards to ensure equitable funding distribution across the academic year, awarding full or partial fund requests.

Priority will be given to experiences in the greater Lansing area, though applications will be accepted for wider opportunities within the state of Michigan.

If you have already held a community engaged learning event this year, you can still apply to cover your transportation costs. However, you would need to complete both the application and the reflection form before you can receive funds.
