The Center offers a variety of experience types, some of which all students can participate and others that may require an application process
Days of Service
Several times during the year, we offer students the opportunity to serve the greater Lansing community for one day.
Students may find volunteer opportunities through MSU's new platform called My Spartan Story (MSS). When fulling launched, the interactive My Spartan Story platform will capture a variety of MSU student experiences outside of the classroom. Starting this fall, our center is pleased to be able to utilize this platform for all of our volunteering opportunities.
Overview of My Spartan Story
My Spartan Story captures co-curricular/beyond-the-classrom activities that may include, but are not limited to: leadership programs, student employment, research positions, internships, and commuity engaged learning opportunities. Once activities are collected, validated, and MSS learning outcomes are obtained, experiences may be included on the students' Spartan Experience Record (SER). The SER has the ability to capture all of activities outside the scope of academic credit and will accompany the MSU Academic Transcript as an official document of the University.
Academic Community-Engaged Learning
Several MSU courses incorporate community engaged learning as a component of their curriculum and are included in course objectives. This may be a requirement or offered as an extra credit option.
